Queen Elizabeth College, Darlington Unveils Student Management Team

QE has unveiled its first ever Football Student Management Team.

 
QE is a FA Football Focus College for British Colleges Sport and the team will assist staff in planning and delivering football activities in College. At the end of the last academic year, over 40 students formally applied to be part of the team and 13 were selected for interview. The interview process was rigorous, involving a presentation and questions from QE and Durham FA staff as well as a group task. 9 students were then selected to form the team and given roles within it, with the remaining 4 acting as assistants. They are:

Funding / Events: Jade Armstrong
Inter-College Teams: Andy Kelly
Intra-College Participation: Matty Carnelley
Intra-College Participation: Faye Bowles
Education: Ben Riley
Volunteering: Hannah Marshall

PE teacher, Mark Scott said:
“I’m really excited about the potential impact this project could have on football and sporting opportunities in College. We feel that empowering students to take responsibility for their football experiences in College is invaluable. The idea is that these students will also gain valuable vocational skills and an experience from being part of the team that will benefit them in their future careers.”

Team Leader, Sophie Watchman added:
“The team has already set out our goals for the year – we are trying to improve football opportunities in College teams, develop the new sport of futsal in College, promote volunteering and coaching opportunities and spread the FA Respect campaign. We can’t wait to get started!”
